How to measure. Partometer3D Guide.

AUTO-FOCUS, SAVE SCREENSHOT, SEND SCREENSHOT, FLASHLIGHT, DELETE features are located on the right side of the camera view. Check pictures below for buttons description.

MEASUREMENT PLANE - plane in 3D space where all measurement is to be taken. It is defined by bounding rectangular object  (sheet of paper, credit card, etc.) in this plane with white quadrangle on the screen.

ROL (reference object line) - blue line used as a reference. It is used if size of the reference plane is not known exactly and can be only defined with W/H ratio. ROL is used for ratio measurement as well.

To define the measurement plane there is an option to align the rectangular object automatically.
For the automatic alignment bound the object with the white quadrangle roughly. Make sure the object edges are close enough to the lines. Then touch AUTO ALIGNMENT button. Make correction to the alignment manually if needed.

Using rectangular object only

In this mode you would need to select rectangular object from the list (sheet of paper, credit card, etc.) or define custom object.

In order to make a measurement follow these steps:

  1. Go to Preferences and select a rectangular object with known size from the list or use Custom option (last in the list) to specify the width and height of the object.
  2. Select a plane where measurements are to be taken and place the object on this plane.
  3. Point your camera or make a picture of an object to be measured using Camera button.
  4. Align (close to object edges) white quadrangle on the screen with the rectangular(!) object. Make sure the green line (WIDTH) is aligned with object width.
  5. Make a long touch on the screen to add a ruler.
  6. Make measurements with the ruler.
  7. Repeat 5 and 6 if you need to add more rulers on the screen.
  8. (Optional) Tap Play button to go back to live camera view.

Note:

  • Short touch   on the "W : H" in the left bottom corner fixes the reference plane.
  • Long touch   on the "W : H" is a shortcut for Preferences.
  • Short touch   on units view  in the left upper corner is a shortcut for Preferences.
Please note, reference and measured objects have to be located on the same plane.

Using a rectangular object and a reference length

Use a rectangular plane just to define measurement plane and make measurements relative to a  reference object.

In order to make a measurement follow these steps:

  1. Go to Preferences and select a rectangular object with known size from the list or use Custom option (last in the list) to specify the width and height of the object. This object defines measurement plane.
  2. Mark "Using ROL" and select reference object from the list or define custom one from  "Reference Object Length"
  3. Select a plane where measurements are to be taken and place the selected rectangular object on it.
  4. Point your camera or make a picture of an object to be measured using Camera button.
  5. Align white quadrangle on the screen with the rectangular(!) object. Make sure the green line (WIDTH) is aligned with object width.
  6. Alight blue ROL with the reference object.
  7. Make a long touch on the screen to add a ruler.
  8. Make measurements with the ruler. Note, ratio measurement relative to the ROL is also displayed.
  9. Repeat 7 and 8 if you need to add more rulers on the screen.
  10. (Optional) Tap Play button to go back to live camera view.

    Note:

  • ROL - size of selected reference object in selected measurement units.

When only W/H ratio of a rectangular plane is known.

In this case you can use any plane with known Width/Height ratio to define measurement plane. Good to use on the tiled surfaces. ROL option is used by default for measurement.

In order to make a measurement follow these steps:

  1. Go to Preferences and select Custom option in the Measurement Plane section.
  2. In the How plane is defined section select Only W/H Ratio
  3. Enter Custom Plane W/H Ratio
  4. Select reference object from the list or define custom one from  "Reference Object Length"
  5. Select a plane where measurements are to be taken and place your rectangular object on this plane.
  6. Point your camera or make a picture of an object to be measured using Camera button.
  7. Align white quadrangle on the screen with the rectangular(!) object. Make sure the green line (WIDTH) is aligned with object width.
  8. Alight blue ROL with the reference object.
  9. Make a long touch on the screen to add a ruler.
  10. Make measurements with the ruler. Note, ratio measurement relative to the ROL is also displayed.
  11. Repeat 7 and 8 if you need to add more rulers on the screen.
  12. (Optional) Tap Play button to go back to live camera view.

   Note:

  • ROL - size of selected reference object in selected measurement units.
